Humpbacks, Bryde´s  Whales and a wide variety of Dolphins including Orcas inhabit the waters of  Bahia de  Banderas during the winter and spring months. For its geographic location, weather and oceanographic features, this bay has been chosen as an important breeding ground for some of  species such as the Humpback Whale.

Known as the most acrobatic of all whales, the Humpback Whale can be seen in this region from November thru April. Mothers and Calves, Courting Groups or Individual Whales are common sightings.  Humpbacks have the widest known vocalizations repertory of all baleen whales  and generally occur in warm-water breeding areas such as Bahia de Banderas, here snorkelers and divers can hear their tonal songs underwater, and so do we with the use of a hydrophone and speaker system onboard.
